He graduated from a Technical High School in New York that specialized in aviation. He left home and joined the Air Force, where he served in many places around the world, including service in the Korean War.
When stationed at Castle AFB in California, he met a Turlock girl, Mary Plunkett, and they were married in 1950.
After his military service Bob worked thirty-nine years for PacBell (now AT&T) as a supervisor and trainer in communications systems.
A tough, proud veteran, he was a very intelligent man with strong Christian morals and values. "Grandpa Bob" was at the birth of his grand kids and every birthday party. He loved his family and they loved him very much. They are thankful for all the love and support he has given them throughout the years. His memory will live on forever in their hearts.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife of sixty-four years, Mary Barringer; their three children, Kenny (Debbie) Barringer, Kevin Barringer, and Kristi Barringer, all of Turlock; two grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and a sister, Dolores Grindell.
Visitation will be at Allen Mortuary on Wednesday, April 2nd from 4 to 7 pm.
Funeral Service will be at First Baptist Church on Thursday, April 3rd.
Burial plans at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery and military honors are pending.
