BIDDEFORD - Irene Laroche, 79, formerly of 25 Prospect Manor, died Wednesday at St. Andre's Health Care Facility. She was born January 26, 1913, in St. Norbert d'Arthabaska, P.Q. Canada, a daughter of Henry and Marie Anna Gendreau Durand. She moved to Sanford as a child and was educated there. Mrs. Laroche moved to Biddeford in 1933 and was employed at the J.D. Boucher Department Store and at Duquette's Infant Shop. She and her husband ran a take-out seafood restaurant for years, and also owned and operated a laundromat for several years. She was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church. She was also a gold member of the Ross Center Senior Citizens Club. Her husband, Hector Laroche, died in 1986. surviving are a son, G. Donald Laroche of Old Orchard Beach; four sisters, Aldea Marcotte of Dawson, GA, Doris Henry of North Berwick, Mariette Couture and Fernande Bougic, both of Sanford; three brothers, Andre Durand of Farmingdale, Roland Durand of North Berwick, and Raymond Durand of Manchester, NH; two granddaughters, two great grandsons, and several nieces and nephews.
