He married Sarah Lou Bates on November 20, 1913 in Hickman Co., TN, and they were the parents of Doyle Rushton, Christine Rushton Coble, Georgia Rushton Garner, Johnnie Rushton Riley, Viola Rushton Vickers, Mary Sue Rushton Goodson, and Earlene Rushton Blackwell.
