George Neilson Dies
Prominent Ramsay Farmer Passes Away After Ten Days of Pneumonia
Mr George Neilson, of the 12th line of Ramsay, after a sickness of ten days, passed to his last rest on Monday evening. He was ill for ten days of pleuro-pneumonia. Mr Neilson was 61 years of age, the son of the late Matthew Neilson, one of the earliest Ramsay farmers, and a brother of Mr John Neilson who recently moved into Almonte. The Neilson family has played a very conspicuous part in the early settlement of the township and has during succeeding generations held the high esteem of everyone in the community. The late Mr Neilson had farmed on the twelfth line during his entire lifetime and thirty-two years ago married Miss Annie Wood, daughter of the late Patrick Wood of Pakenham township. To this union were born three boys and three girls: Alan and Lillian at home, Annie, teaching in Alberta, (Elsie) Mrs T.S. Arthur, of Carleton Place, Merrill, of Vancouver, and Frank, of Alberta. This is the first break in the family, and it was Mr Neilson's first sickness. The funeral will not take place until Sunday in order that the western members of the family may be present. The heartfelt sympathy of the entire community goes out in Mrs Neilson and her family in their bereavement.
