Norman Ryland Baker Norman Ryland Baker was called to his heavenly home on Saturday, March 29, 2014, surrounded by his family after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's. He was born in Scott County, Va., but lived most of his adult life in Sullivan County, Tenn. He was a former employee of Sperry-Unisys Company. He was also a custom home contractor and co-owned with his son B & B Auto Sales in Bristol. He served his country in the US Army during the Korean War. He was a member and trustee of Chestnut Flats Primitive Baptist Church in Kingsport. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elder C.J. Baker and Rosa Whitaker Baker; a grandson, Landon Baker; two sisters, Juanita Baker and Ruby Baker; three brothers, Johnny Baker, Lawrence Baker and Hanford Baker.
The family would like to express a special thank you to Amedysis Hospice of Kingsport and to all the special nurses who came to the home for their compassion, assistance and support which made an immeasurable difference during this time. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association local chapter at 207 N. Boone St., Suite 1500, Johnson City, TN 37604 or any memorial of your choosing.
