Boots John Chivington, age 62, of Vernal, passed from this world on Friday March 28th, 2014 surrounded by his family and friends.

He was born April 20th, 1951 in Craig, Colorado to John Marion Chivington and Muriel Ina Tucker. Boots grew up on his fathers ranch in Maybell, Colorado where he learned many important lessons in life, such as how to work hard and to love his family.

After serving his country in the United States Army he quickly pursued his true passion of driving trucks and moving rigs.

Boots lived a truly free life on his own terms, much like his American Pioneer ancestors. His great grandfather Doc Chivington was a homesteader and range rider.

Boots had countless adventures in his life, having fun and making memories wherever he went. His trail has stretched from Hawaii to Europe. He always had a little story or joke. He was very affectionate and had a hug or a pat on the back for everyone he cared about.

For the last 17 years he lived with his wife and best friend RuthAnn (Nellie), in Vernal, Utah. In that time he built many trucks and moved many many rigs. When Boots and Nellie weren't out in the patch together they enjoyed traveling to truck and car shows. Boots was a busy guy but was never too busy to stop and enjoy and old black and white western on cable or all the beautiful flowers his wife would plant in their yard.

He left this world very loved by all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife RuthAnn Larsen Chivington; Daughters Traci Chivington and Heidi McKeachnie; Daughters-In-Law Amie Reinhardt and Corbin Reyes; Son Jeremy Buist; Son-In-Laws Drew Murdza, Jake McKeachnie, and Daniel Hatch; Grandchildren Cub Chivington, Chloe Hatch, Cru Hatch, Dylan McKeachnie; Brother John D. Kelly; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He also left a pack of shop cats whom he loved very much.

Boots was proceeded in death by his father John Marion Chivington, mother Muriel Ina Tucker, son Cub John Chivington, his devoted dog Puck and his favorite cat Boomer.

Services were held at the Vernal Rod and Gun Club on Tuesday, April 1st, with overwhelming attendance.

Burial was in the Maeser Fairview Cemetery with Military Honors provided by the American Legion Post 11 and the Utah National Guard, under the direction of Ashley Valley Funeral Home.

Thank you to all of the friends and loved ones who came out and gave their love and support to boots on his final journey.
