Elva P. "Loretta" Best, age 84, of Randallstown, died Thursday, March 27, 2014, at her home.
Born May 6, 1929, in Damascus, MD she was the daughter of the late Oliver L. Burns and Mary K. Sims Burns Patrick.
She was the wife of the late Murlin Perry and the late Billy Lee Best.
Loretta had worked as an alcohol and drug abuse counselor for the Federal Government for 22 years. She loved lighthouses, playing Bingo, nature, travel and reading, especially the Bible and Danielle Steele novels.
She was a member of Wards Chapel United Methodist Church.
She is survived by son, Randy M. Perry of Randallstown; daughters, Miriam "Suzie" Dearing of Sykesville, Catherine W. Collins and Rethea E. Foster both of Randallstown; brother, Oliver Lee Burns of Glenville, PA; sisters, Mary Ann Stokes of Sykesville, R. Jeanette Miller of Sykesville, Lillian D. Miller of Chambersburg, PA, E. Faye Young of Hanover, PA, Linda I. Gaskill, of Hanover, PA and Gladys P. Pope of West Plains, MO;She is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by son, the late Robert C. Perry and brothers, the late Allen D., Sterling and Leonard Burns.
The family will receive friends on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm at the Haight Funeral Home & Chapel, 6416 Sykesville Road, Sykesville where a funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 10 am with Rev. John Nupp officiating.
Interment will be in McKendree Cemetery, West Friendship.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Wards Chapel UMC, Building Fund, 11023 Liberty Road, Randallstown, MD 21133.
