Kittie was born out of wedlock to John Randolph Parsons & Caroline Cochran. By the time Caroline discovered she was with child, John had married Ada Belle Yoho, with whom he had 4 children. Caroline married Ben Bowers and had several other children. John, divorced from Ada Belle, married Leota Moore and again divorced.

Kittie married Grover C. Bucher and had four children: Geraldine Virginia, Clarence Lee, John Paul and Hilda Caroline. Kittie died soon after giving birth to Hilda. Grover literally went insane and died two months later at Weston State Hospital.

In 1929, 8 years after Kittie Cochran-Parsons Bucher died, her biological parents, John Parsons and Caroline Cochran, were married.

According to former Wetzel County teacher, Wilda Parsons Siburt, it was common knowledge that John Parsons was Kittie's father. Kittie's son, Clarence Lee Bucher, stated that he knew his grandfather, John Parsons, while growing up in Wetzel County. He said John Parsons readily acknowledged that Kittie was his daughter.
