US Congressman. Born in Milton, New Hampshire, he was a manufacture of boots and shoes in Farmington, New Hampshire. With the outbreak of the Civil War, he enlisted in the Union Army and served as a Quarter-Master in the 6th Regiment, New Hampshire Volunteer Infantry. After the war he was a member of the New Hampshire House of Representatives in 1866, a member in the New Hampshire State Senate (1867-68) and a delegate to the Republican National Convention in 1876. In 1889, he was elected as a Republican to the Fifty-first Congress, serving until 1891. Not a candidate for re-nomination, he died a year later at age 66 in Farmington, New Hampshire.
