A life-long resident of Martinsville, Martha was a graduate of Greenbrier Academy and attended Pfeiffer University in Misenheimer, N.C. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, where she was active in a women's circle.
Creative and independent, Martha was an advocate for animals and an accomplished equestrienne. She possessed a green thumb and was knowledgeable about plants, especially those native to the area. She will be remembered for her generosity, enthusiasm and caring nature.
She is survived by her brother, Jacob C. Aaron, Jr. of Hardy, as well as many other family members. Special appreciation goes out to her two cousins, Margaret A. Cronise and Roberta A. Powell, who gave generously of their time to care for her over the past several years.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Martinsville SPCA, 132 Joseph Martin Highway, Martinsville, VA. 24112, or a horse rescue organization or other charity of your choice.
The funeral service will be held Sunday, March 30, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. at McKee Stone Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends at the chapel one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Oakwood Cemetery.
