Richard Appears in the 1850 Census of Milton Vermont, with his father John Watson and step mother Abigail.. they all are residing in the household of David Watson (whom is John's brother). Richard is shown to be 12 yrs old and born in Vermont.

He married Harriet E. Gould on 06 Feb 1865 in Hinsdale, Cheshire, NH.

By 1870 Richard is now married, still living in Milton Vt. age 32. His wife Harriet is age 25 and born in Vt. Richard is a farm laborer and has $200 value for personal estate. No children in household.


Richard and Harriet had no children. Harriet remarried in 1879 and died in CA.

It was noted in newspaper " At Winters Cal, Jun 6, of dropsy of the heart Richard Watson, formerly of Milton age 39 yrs, 10 mos, 2 days". Argus and Patriot (Montpelier, VT), Vol XXVIII, Issue 32, 17 Jul 1878, page 3


"Sacramento Daily Union, Vol. 7, No. 108, 24 Jun 1878.

Last Sunday Richard Watson, employed on the Porter Ranch, on the Solano side of Putah Creek, at two and 1/2 miles from Winters, while on a visit to Mr H Austin in Pleasant Valley, went into the sables to saddle a horse and while in the act of doing, fell dead from disease of the heart."

Note:
Two obituaries printed after his death indicate interment at Winters Masonic Cemetery in California, but the cemetery can't confirm he is buried there.
