He enlisted in the Army Air Corps on January 7, 1942 in Manchester, New Hampshire. He was noted as being employed as a mechanic and also as Single, without dependents.

Donald died in the "Line Of Duty" while training when his AT-17B crashed 10 Miles SSW of Douglas Air Force Base, Douglas, Arizona during the war.
