Elisabethe was the daughter of Philippe Volmer, a farmer, and Marguerithe Schweyer. She married Jacob Forler in Bischholtz, Alsace, France, on December 14, 1824 at the age of 23. Jacob and Elisabethe emigrated from France with their first 3 children in 1832. The family then spent some time in Philidelphia, where their 4th child was born, before settling in Wilmot Township, Waterloo County, Ontario.
At the end of her life, Elisabethe was a widow for almost ten years before dying of "old age". At the time of the 1881 census, she was living with her son Philip and his wife Catherine Lanz.
