Funeral services for Elsie L. Adkins, 71, of Lamar will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 13 at Valley Memorial Funeral Chapel in Lamar. Pastor Harold Bohl will officiate.

Burial will be at Fairmount Cemetery in Lamar.

Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 12 and from 9 a.m. to service time on Tuesday at Valley Memorial Funeral Chapel.

Adkins was born on March 18, 1934 at Hutchinson, Ks. and died on Friday, Dec. 9, 2005 at her home in Lamar with her family at her side.

Adkins was preceded in death by her father, Hugh A. Jones of Lamar on March 14, 1959; by her mother, Edith I. Jones of Lamar on July 16, 1979; and by one sister, Clarice I. Steele of Lamar on July 29, 1982.

She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Thurman Adkins of their home in Lamar; by two sons, Terry (Monica Aguilera) Adkins and Mark (Michelle) Adkins, all of Lamar; by six grandchildren, Gabriel, Amy, Haley, Kailey, Emily, and Elijah; by three great-grandchildren, Dylan, Tyler, and Gabrielle; by one brother, Sam (Pat) Jones of Pueblo; by two sisters, Mary (Ed) Sales of La Junta, and Lila (Bill) Osborne of Lamar. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and a host of friends.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Assoc. or to the Lamar Area Hospice, either directly or through Valley Memorial Funeral Chapel.
