Sybil Marie Harrison, 80, of Poteau, Oklahoma, passed away at St. Edward?s Mercy Hospital in Fort Smith, Arkansas, on Wednesday, May 11, 2005. She was born on August 26, 1924, to Charlie and Minnie May (Hodge) Phillips. She married R. E. Harrison on August 20, 1944, in Yuma, AZ. She was the executive secretary for the Gerald Neff Insurance Agency in Poteau. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Poteau. Sybil was very proud of her volunteer work with the Eastern Oklahoma Medical Center?s Gift Shop and with the Salvation Army located in Poteau. Sybil was the ?Queen Mother? of the Red Hat Society of Poteau.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers, two sisters and one grandson Patrick Edward Harrison.
She is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Mike and Sandy Harrison of Poteau and Christopher Lee Harrison of Redwood City, CA.; two grandchildren, Michael Edward and Kristin Harrison of Poteau, and Paula Marie Harrison of Lynchburg, Va.; a great grandchild, Ethan Robert Harrison; two sisters, Anna May Bentley of Paradise, California, and Eulene Davis of Ramona, California.
Pallbearers will be Jess Henry, Dean Warren, George Nenstiel, Eli French, Jake French and Daryl Hosler.
Services will be at 11:00 AM Friday, May 13, 2005, at the First Presbyterian Church in Poteau with the Rev. William J. Sampson III officiating. Interment will follow at the National Cemetery in Fort Smith, Arkansas. Services are under the direction of Grace Manor Funeral Home of Poteau.
