Willie's family moved to the Wagner, SD area when he was two years old. He attended country school in Lawrence Township and Wagner High School for three years. Willie farmed on the family farm his entire life. Due to failing health, he became a resident of the Good Samaritan Center on March 2, 2009.

Willie will be remembered for his hammer collection, enjoyment of going to farm sales and writing in a journal every day. He always carried a potato in his pocket to help with his arthritis. Willie will especially be remembered for his good natured "harassment" of anyone he knew.

Thankful for having shared his life are his sister-in-law, Marjorie Hall of Wagner; three nieces: Julie and husband Dan Shultis of Tea, Jan and husband Mike Kokesh of Wagner and Jody McLaughlin of Sioux Falls; seven great nieces and nephews: Jason and Bryan Hall, Becky, Sarah and Michael Kokesh, and Bobby and Nikki McLaughlin, one great-great nephew Carson Hall; a cousin Margaret McCarther of Canada; and many friends.

Willie was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Dale and a great niece, Rachel Kokesh.
