Bryan Ward, Sr

Age 52 years, 2 months. He was the Registrar of West Point Military Academy. He was the father of Lieut. Matthew Henry Ward (1840-1867), a volunteer with the 9th Michigan Cavalry and was assigned later to the 2nd United States Artillery, who died at the end of the war; Philip G.W. Ward (1842-1874) with Burnside's Cavalry and Bryan Ward Jr. (1848-1863) who died of typhoid fever. He was succeeded as registrar by his son, William, who was in the position for over 50 years. His son, Brigadier General Thomas Ward (1839-1926) was an Army officer and military instructor.
