OLD PIONEER BROUGHT HERE FOR FINAL REST TUESDAY

Mrs. Horace W. Nash, of Spirit Lake, a pioneer resident of Sac County, was laid to rest Tuesday morning in Ferguson cemetery. She passed away Saturday at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Rev. and Mrs. R. D. Atcheson of Sioux City, the cause of her death being heart trouble. Last September Mrs. Nash went to Sioux City to make a visit in the Atcheson home. While there, she was taken ill, and had been bedfast since that time. During her illness, her husband has been a constant attendant at her bedside, assisting with the loving ministrations that were accorded her. Mrs. Nash was a patient sufferer, and was ready and willing to take her departure to the Better Land.

Funeral services were held Monday at 2 o'clock from the Atcheson home in Sioux City at 3932 Orleans Avenue, and the body brought to Wall Lake Tuesday morning, from which place it was taken to Ferguson cemetery, where two young sons of the Nashs are interred.

Short, but touching services, which by request of Mrs. Nash were conducted by Rev. Atcheson, were held at the grave at 11 o'clock. A quartette of Lake View ladies, comprising of Mrs. E. C. Frandson, Miss Stella Peper, Mrs. Fred Wells and Mrs. Frank Johnson, sang "Rock of Ages".

Among those from out of town who attended the last rites were Rev. and Mrs. Atcheson of Sioux City, Frank Nash and family of Spirit Lake, and Norman Nash of Redfield, S.D.

Mrs. Nash was 71 years old at the time of death.

She is survived by her husband, with whom she lived in happy wedlock for 48 years, and by two children, Grace, wife of Rev. R.D. AStcheson, of the Helping Hand Mission, of Sioux City, and by Frank, of Spirit Lake. Also three grandchildren, Vern, Irene and Lois Nash of Spirit Lake.

Mr. and Mrs. Nash came to Lake View before there was any town on its site. They built the first house at this point, which is now the home of Mr. and Mrs. S.H. Brown. A part of the area occupied by the gravel pits south of town formed their farm. The family moved away about 17 years ago, going to Spirit Lake, where they have since resided.

While Mrs. Nash lived in this community, she was an active member of the Methodist church, and also taught in the Sunday school for a number of years. She was a woman of lovely character and disposition, and her memory will linger for many years with those who were so fortunate as to know her.
