Frances V. Martin McCarthy, of Fayetteville, passed away peacefully on Wednesday. Born in Chase Mills, St. Lawrence County, Fran graduated from Madrid Central High School and Albany Business College. She was employed by the Federal Government in Canton, NY for several years. During that time she met her future husband, Maurice McCarthy, who was attending St. Lawrence University. After his service in World War II, they were married and moved to Syracuse where he was employed at Carrier Corp. and became Treasurer. They were married 51 years when he passed away in 1997. Fran was secretary and office manager for Ross Empire State Brokers for 35 years. Fran was a communicant of Immaculate Conception Church in Fayetteville, an avid Bridge player, becoming a Silver Life Master, and a member of the Onondaga County Democratic Committee and election inspector for the Town of Manlius Democrat Committee for 40 years. She is survived by a son, Michael McCarthy of Cazenovia; three daughters, Karen (John) Sherlock of McLean, VA, Ellen (William) Dougherty of Cazenovia and Lisa (Brian) Donlon of Naperville, IL; 10 grandchildren, Jennifer, Timothy and Kevin McCarthy; Christopher and Mara Sherlock; Caitlin, Brenna and Maggie Dougherty; and Shannon and Connor Donlon; and two great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday at Immaculate Conception Church, 400 Salt Springs St., Fayetteville. She will be buried next to her husband at Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Fayetteville. There will be no calling hours. Contributions: The Fayetteville Fire Department Ambulance Fund, 425 E.
