Mr. Hart was the owner of three motels from 1966 to 1981. He retired as owner of the former Broadmoor Motel in Marion. Prior to that, he owned the Hart Motel, which is in Marion and the City Manor in Michigan City, IN.
Mr. Hart was born on June 10, 1923 in Huntington County, the son of the late Orvan M. and Susan H. (Shutt) Hart. Lewis married Kathryn M. Schenkel on December 24, 1946 in Huntington. He received a bronze star while serving in the United States Army during W.W. II.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years – Kathryn M. Hart of North Manchester, IN; one son – Richard W. Hart of Fort Wayne, IN; one daughter – Mrs. Bryan (Kathy) Salyer of Bloomingdale, MI; two brothers – Dean Hart of Marion, IN and Robert Hart of Huntington; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. A son – Larry Hart, granddaughter – Jennifer Lee, brothers – Earl, Bill and Lawrence Hart, and sisters – Deloris Stech, Alice Hart and Gean Cross, preceded him in death.
