Lorence William Ackermann was born October 10, 1956 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of William Ackermann and Dorothy Lorenc Ackermann. He graduated from the Amana High School in 1975, and attended Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids. Lorence married Lori Childers on September 30, 1978 in Amana. The couple later divorced. Lorence started his working career with Hertel 66 in Homestead. He then was employed at Kraus Manufacturing in Walford. Later he worked at Sullivan Graphics in Marengo and lastly he was employed with Amana Furniture in Amana. In his youth Lorence was a member of the Boy Scouts.
Lorence is survived by his son, Matt Ackermann (Whitney Alberhasky) of Homestead; two daughters, Elizabeth Draeger (Eric) of Marion and Kristin Ackermann (Josh Cuno) of Homestead; a granddaughter, Jasmin Rose; his parents, William and Dorothy Ackermann of Amana; two sisters, Sandy Fetzer (Jerry) of Marion and Deb Weisskopf (Phil) of Oxford; two nieces, Andrea Dorn (Jeremy) and Callista Weisskopf; and three nephews, Patrick Fetzer, Zachary Fetzer and Josh Weisskopf.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents and two nieces, Heather and Micah Weisskopf.
