Carl was born in Louisville, Kentucky on November 20, 1953 to the late Carl Henry and Delsia Montgomery Cunningham.
He was a member of Mid County Baptist Church and an electrical mechanic.
Carl is preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Dexter and Roy Cunningham and his granddaughter, Kayla Marie Robinson.
He is survived by his wife, Cindy Hughes Cunningham; his children, Carl Edward Cunningham, Jr., Elizabeth Anne Jackson, Christi Marie Fontenot, Amy Renee Guidry and Ryan Keith Leeper; 15 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; his brothers, Ronnie Montgomery, Thomas Woosely and Daniel Cunningham; and his sister, Julia Burkhart.
