Francis was an architect. He designed and built nearly 400 homes and buildings in the state of Maine. Some of the buildings include Maine General Hospital, the Alms House, the Second Parish Church, the City Hall of Portland, which was destroyed by fire in 1866, and Keith Theater.
He was the son of John Fassett and Betsey Turner.
His first marriage was to Mima Ann Welch. Mima was the daughter of Ezekiel and Temperance Welch. Francis and Mima were the parents of Edward Francis Fassett, William Green Fassett, Walter Hudson Fassett and Anna Elizabeth Fassett.
Mima Ann Welch Fassett passed away on 9 Dec 1859.
Francis was again married on 17 Oct 1861 to Harriet Bagley Hudson in Bath, Maine. Harriet was the daughter of John Bradley Hudson, Sr. and Harriet Bagley. To this union were the births of Frederick Gardiner Fassett, Mima Fassett and Harriet Hudson "Hattie" Fassett.
