Ardell Lawrence Broberg, 81 of Blackhoof and Barnum, died Friday, March 14, 2014 in Essentia Health St. Mary's Medical Center, Duluth. He was born in 1932 in Bertrand, Nebraska, the son of Lawrence and Lucille Broberg. Ardell was an Army veteran serving during the Korean conflict.

He was the manager and pioneer at Bethel Farm/ Lake Venoah in Carlton. Along with his wife, Phyllis, he was the owner of Kingsway Homes, Inc. for more than 25 years. During that time, he built a dozen churches, many homes, and poured hundreds of basements. Ardell was a coordinator for Shaklee Corporation for more than 40 years. In his last years he enjoyed jigsaw puzzles.

Ardell had a deep faith in the Lord and was a member of Gideon's International and Sandy Lake Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Jonathan Broberg; sister, Bonita Wohlgemuth; and daughter-in-law, Karen Broberg.

Ardell is survived by his wife of 59 years, Phyllis of Barnum; sons, Steven (Eva) of Cloquet, Bryan (Sandi) of Dellwood, MN, Marlin (Tina Gustafson) of Forest Lake, Jonathan (Shana) of Superior, Donovan (Julie) of Rapid City, SD and Weldon (Patty) of New Brighton, MN; 22 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; and sister, Barbara (Robert) Owen of San Antonio, TX.

Spring burial will be in Sandy Lake Cemetery.
