Wilda Chloris Davis
(June 12, 1923 - March 23, 2014

Wilda Chloris Davis 90, of Rowlesburg died Sunday, March 23, 2014 at her daughter's home with family by her side.

She was born June 12, 1923, in Fellowsville, a daughter of the late Arthur D. and Vernie Hazel Henline Ridenour.

Mrs. Davis was a member of the Christ United Methodist Church where she served as treasurer and trustee for 32 years, she graduated and was valedictorian at Fellowsville High School, Class of 1940, she graduated from Fairmont State College, was a classroom teacher for the Preston County Board of Education teaching for two years in one room school houses at Sinclair and #20, four years in Terra Alta, 20 years in Manheim and 14 years in Rowlesburg. Mrs. Davis was Preston County Teacher of the Year for 1978-79. She was a 50 year member of the Rowlesburg Chapter 127, OES, a member of the VFW Auxiliary, Cannon Hill Post 3008 and a member of the Preston County Senior Citizens in Rowlesburg.

She is survived by her daughter, Jenene Parker and her husband, Jackie of Terra Alta, her sister, Wanda Butcher and her husband, Bernard of Gallipolis, OH, her grandchildren, Tony and Katie Parker of Terra Alta, several nieces and nephews and her beloved pet, Joy.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, George Davis in September 2009 and her brother, William Ridenour.

The family would like to give a special thank you to caregiver, Sandra Wagner, Hospice nurse, Karen and Hospice aide, Kathy, special friends Don and Marie and her senior citizen family.

Family and friends may call at Browning Funeral Home, Burke Chapel, Rowlesburg from 2-4 and 6-9 pm Wednesday, March 26 where the VFW Auxiliary, Cannon Hill Post 3008 will conduct a memorial service at 7 pm and the Rowlesburg Chapter 127, OES will conduct a memorial service at 7:30 pm. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 1 pm Thursday, March 27, 2014 with Pastors Harold and Cheryl George officiating.
Interment will follow at the Mt. Israel Cemetery at Fellowsville.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Hospice Care Corporation, PO Box 760, Arthurdale, WV 26520-0760.
