Charles 'Charlie' Shafer was born on November 16, 1926 in Casey, to James Francis and Hattie M. (Parker) Shafer. He married Margaret J. Zakowski on May 27, 1977 in Casey, IL. Surviving are his wife, Marge of 36 years; one daughter, Maggie Scallion; grandchildren: Jon W. (Bridgett) Bollinger, Bob (Carrie) Scallion, Charity (Thomas) Higgins, Jade and Sierra Scallion; great-grandchildren: Ty and Piper Higgins; five nieces, Nora (Bill) Williams, Juanita (Lee) Remlinger, Glenda (Russell) Letner, Donna Johns and Lela Allentharp and numerous great nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Harlie, Wayne O and James F. Shafer, Jr. and sisters, Geneva Boyd and Virginia Johns.
Charlie served in the Navy.
