Mary B. Altman, 91, of 409 E. Sheridan Ave., DuBois, died Thursday, April 28, 2005, at her residence.

She lived in Emporium from 1936 until 1978 when she moved to DuBois.
Born July 24, 1913, in Clarion, she was the daughter of Samuel A. and
Grace Master Carroll.

She was a 1932 graduate of St. Petersburg High School.

Mrs. Altman had worked at the Devlund Pharmacy in Emporium.

She was a member of Lakeside United Methodist Church in DuBois since 1979. While in Emporium, she was a member of the United Methodist Church, a charter member of the WSCS and a member of the Lydia Circle. She was a member since 1948 of the Emporium Chapter No. 101, Order of Eastern Star, and was a Golden Star.

During World War II, Mrs. Altman was a local member of the War Finance Committee, selling war bonds.

Mrs. Altman was a homemaker and enjoyed crocheting, quilting, square dancing and spending time at "Romar Lodge," a summer home located near Stevenson Dam in Cameron County.

She was married Aug. 24, 1933, to Roy F. Altman, who died March 10, 1978.

Surviving are a daughter, Eleanor "Ellie" Klees of DuBois; two grandsons, Daniel Klees and Douglas Klees; and three great-grandchildren, John Klees, Michael Klees and Sarah Parker. She also is survived by one sister, Mrs. George (Hazel) Kinchen of Jamestown, Pa.; two sisters-in-law, Anna Marie Snyder and Margaret
Carroll; and two nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Altman was preceded in death by two sisters, Lena Melaney and Goldie Shoup, and one brother, Howard Carroll.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday in the Mohney-Yargar Funeral Chapel Inc., 142 W. Long Ave., DuBois, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday in the Lakeside United Methodist Church, DuBois.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in the church with the Rev. Robert Zilhaver and the Rev. Dick Burns officiating.

Interment will follow in Gilmore Cemetery, Sinnemahoning.

Memorials may be made to the Capital Campaign at Lakeside United Methodist Church, 420 First St., DuBois, 15801, or in support of Missionaries, Ron and Bonnie Hipwell, in care of the Lakeside Church.
