Esther R. VAN WINKLE Of Mercer Island passed away peacefully on April 13, 2005, at the age of 89. She enjoyed playing bridge, needlepoint, crochet, knitting baby clothing for the Covenant Shores Gift Shop, making quilts to aid in foreign missions efforts, and most of all, spending time with her loving family and friends. Esther attended Mount Vernon Presbyterian Church, then later moved and attended Mercer Island Presbyterian.
She is survived by her children Ed Van Winkle (Tamela), Rose Marie Van Winkle, Gary B. Van Winkle (Barb), brother R.N. Bud Yoder of Belen, NM, 12 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Lewis Van Winkle in 1987, sons George Van Winkle in 1965, and Charles Van Winkle in 1997.
The funeral service will be held Saturday, April 23, 2005, at 1 pm at the Chapel of Purdy & Walters at Floral Hills, Lynnwood.
Visitation will be on Thursday and Friday from 10-5 pm, and Saturday from 10-12 pm.
