"Alois" married Elizabeth M. Willman in about 1864 in Germany.

They came to America around 1867 and lived in New York for a short time. The Albrechts then moved to Memphis, Tennessee before heading for Illinois. They lived in Rock Island, then Macoupin County, and finally in Grafton in Jersey County.

Alois was a farmer, and they were the parents of 3 children. At the turn of the century, his 94-year-old widowed father-in-law, Michael Willman, lived with them.

Alois retired from farming around 1903.

Elizabeth died in 1905.

Alois lived until 1919. At the time of his death, he was 85 years, 1 month and 14 days old.

He was survived by 1 son, Michael Albrecht; and 1 daughter, Elizabeth Callahan.

In addition to his wife, Alois was preceded in death by a son who died in 1889.

Funeral services were conducted at 10 a.m. on the morning of 08 Oct 1919 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Grafton. Alois was buried next to his wife, Elizabeth.

Aged Citizen Passes Away.

Joseph Alois Albrecht, aged 85 years, died at his home in Grafton on Monday morning at 5:30 o'clock. Mr. Albrecht was born August 22, 1834, at Bavaria, Germany. He was married to Elizabeth Willman, also of Germany, when a young man. The couple came to this country when about 30 years of age. On coming to this country, they settled in New York; for a time they resided in Memphis, Tenn., then to Rock Island and Macoupin County, finally settling in Grafton, his present home.

To this union were born three children, Mrs. Elizabeth Callahan of Jerseyville, Michael Albrecht of Grafton, and another son who died in 1889. Deceased had been retired from active business for the past sixteen years. He was well known and well liked by every one.

Funeral services were held this morning at St. Patrick's Catholic Church at 10 o'clock, Rev. C. J. Davis pastor, ocffliating [sic]. Interment at I. O. O. F. Cemetery.
