Gerald Winford Acheson, 69, died unexpectedly at 8:03 PM Friday [Feb. 5, 1988] in St. Elizabeth Hospital Medical Center. Born in Lafayette, July 21, 1918, he had spent all of his life here. He graduated from West Lafayette High School and attended Purdue University. His marriage to Evelyn Marie Mugg was June 10, 1939, in Lafayette; she survives.
Mr. Acheson was a shift superintendent at Alcoa Aluminum Co. for 33 years before retiring. He later worked for 12 years as a realtor with the former Baldwin Realty. He was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church, Elks Lodge, and Board of Realtors. He was past president of Tippecanoe Foreman's Club and a former member of Knights of Columbus.
Surviving with his wife are one son, Jerry Acheson of Okeechobee, FL; one daughter, Janis Lynn Algozine of Two Rivers, WI; two brothers, Claude D. Acheson of West Lafayette and George T. Acheson of Lafayette; and seven grandchildren.
