Gwendolyn R. Schmidt, age 91, of Kirkwood, MO passed away on Saturday November 6, 2010 at the Manor Grove Nursing Home in Kirkwood.
Gwen was born on April 20, 1919 in Fond du Lac, WI a daughter of the late Gordon and Helen Emma (Siepert) Lewis. Prior to retirement, she worked at the Wohl Shoe Company in St. Louis.
Gwen is survived by 4 children, Wendy (Rodger) Thompson of Kirkwood, Douglas (Peggy) Schmidt of Stanton, MO, Daniel (Kathy) Schmidt of Elgin, IL, Deborah Schmidt of Affton, MO; 25 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, numerous step grandchildren and step great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Betty Clewien of Princeton, WI, Margaret May of Green Lake, WI; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by 2 daughters, Barbara Wallace and Candice Orlando; son, Robert Schmidt; 2 grandchildren, 2 brothers, Gordon "Corky" and Calvin Lewis; one sister, Winifred Warnke.
A funeral service for Gwendolyn R. Schmidt will take place on Wednesday, November 10, at 1:00 pm, with visitation starting at 11:00 am, at the Wachholz and Sons Funeral Home, 303 W. Harvard St., in Princeton with Rev. Robert Busse officiating. Burial will follow the service at the Princeton City Cemetery.
