OGUNQUIT -- Velma Louise Ramsdell, 100, a resident of Ogunquit, died on Sunday, May 12, 2013, at Southridge Rehabilitation and Living Center in Biddeford.

She was born in Sanford on Nov. 11, 1912, the daughter of Albert Dow and Laura May Traves and graduated from Sanford High School. Louise was a homemaker for many years. She also loved working at the Ogunquit Information Center for many years, where she made many friends with business owners and people on vacation to Ogunquit. Louise was a member of the Ogunquit Fire Auxiliary.

The family would like to thank both the Ogunquit Fire and Police Departments for being so good to our mother, and also many thanks to June Geoghan for her friendship and care as she took Louise to get her hair done and have lunch every Wednesday at the Egg and I as she loved their pancakes. She spent winters in Vero Beach, Fla.

She enjoyed playing cards and spending time with family, especially her grandchildren.

Louise was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Herman Clifford Ramsdell; her daughter, Shirley Suglia, her son, Sheldon Ramsdell; and three brothers, Carl, Biff and Roger. Survivors include her two sons, Glenn Ramsdell and his wife Betty of Wells and Donald Ramsdell of South Yarmouth, Mass.; five grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, May 20, 2013, at First Parish Cemetery, York Street, York. Arrangements are in care of Bibber Memorial Chapel, 111 Chapel Rd., Wells. [external link].

The Ramsdell family would like to express their thanks to Southridge Rehabilitation and Living Center for their professional care and kindness.
Louise got her Mother's Day wish, to go to her heavenly home to see her husband, her two children and her many friends who predeceased her.
