Willard A. Hicks was born on August 17, 1918, in Comstock, MN, to August and Mary (Stern) Hicks. He grew up and attended school there. He served in the C.C.C. and did farm work in the area before going to work for the Railroad. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII throughout the European Theatre, where he received 7 battle stars. Following his service, he returned to Comstock and went into the well drilling business with his brothers. He worked in this business until retiring in 1985. Willard was a gun collector, and enjoyed hunting and reading. He also had a passion for cars. He moved in to Moorhead in 1986.
Willard is survived by a niece, Beverly Hicks, Fargo, ND; and two step-nieces, Virginia Gregg, Hawley, MN, and Caroline Swenson, Moorhead, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents, 9 brothers and six sisters.
