She was born October 27, 1917 to Joseph Fuller Simpson and Maude Pridgen Simpson. Also remembered is her husband, Wilbur L. Scarborough; brothers, Harry, Joseph F. Jr., Aubrey, Darwin "Dock", and Byron Simpson; and sisters, Virginia Aitken and Dixie Myers, all who preceded Daphne in death.
Daphne is survived by her sister, Mary Frances S. Griffin of Wilmington; brother, Ira "Buck" Simpson of West Palm Beach, FL; and several nieces and a nephew.
Daphne was a true gracious Southern lady; strong in character, gentle in compassion and a devoted wife, sister and aunt. Her love of nature and the outdoors was revealed in her manicured yard and beautiful flowers. Each year her yard was filled with all kinds of birds as Daphne always kept them well fed. An avid gardener, Daphne could be found working in her flower beds and yard most any day. With a kind heart, she always had a cat or two which were mostly cats that wondered into her yard looking for a home, love and good meal. For a number of years Daphne was a volunteer at the Women's Club Thrift Shop in Hampstead. Daphne lived a full life and will be fondly remembered.
At a later date Daphne will be inurned at Oleander Memorial Gardens beside her beloved husband, Wilbur.
