MRS. MARIA ELY PORTER, 77, died on Wednesday in Clearwater, Florida following an extended illness. Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday at McReynolds-Nave Funeral Home by the Rev. Richard L. Gaia, and the Rev. William R. Reed. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
Mrs. Porter was born on July 20, 1900 in Montgomery County, daughter of the late Heulin and Frances Coulter Ely. Her husband, R. H. Porter, preceded her in death. She was a lifelong member of First Christian Church.
Survivors are two daughters, Mrs. Fran Davis, Clearwater, Florida, and Mrs. Betty Gaia, Clarksville, Tennessee; a brother, John C. Ely, Hopkinsville, Kentucky; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Richard Davis, Frank Goodlett, Edward Goodlett, Jeff Bibb, Chris Stanfill, Johnny Bennett, Gene Balthrop and Morris Shaw.
