Mason was the son of Fred Lewis Deatherage and Gertrude Hagan. He was a WW2 veteran, and served with the U.S. Army during the Battle of the Bulge. He formerly worked as an inspector in the tool crib for Fiat Allis Plant 4, department 37. He was a member of International Association of Machinists. Survivors are a son, Stuart Deatherage of Woodson; a daughter, Maureen Little of Woodson; two granddaughters Christy Nunnery of Jacksonville and Jessica Leigh Havens of Woodson; several nieces and nephews.
