Mr. Murray Bascom of Gaines, Pa., and Miss D’Etta Strayer, of Bolivar were married at the residence of Mr. John Fay in this city at noon Wednesday, by the Rev. R. W. Berlin, of Bolivar. Miss Strayer is a sister of Mrs. John Fay. The happy couple left on the B. & S. this afternoon for Gaines, where Mr. Bascom is engaged in the oil business, and at which place they expect to make their home. The hosts of friends of the young couple extend congratulations.”

"Mrs. DeEtta Bascom
Mrs. DeEtta M. Bascom, 81, widow of Murray C. Bascom, died today at her home, 67 Boss Street, after a brief illness.
Born May 10, 1881, at Meadville, Pa., she was the daughter of Lorenzo and Lucinda Trace Strayer. She was married to Mr. Bascom in 1901. He died in 1937.
Mr. and Mrs. Bascom organized the M. C. Bascom & Co. Oil Well Supply firm which was later purchased by the Bradford Supply Co.
Mrs. Bascom was a member of the Methodist Church, the Amaranth, White Shrine, and the American Legion Auxiliary, and Past District Deputy and Past matron of Buttrick Chapter, O. E. S.
Surviving are a nephew, Cecil Fay, and two nieces, Mrs. Mildred Fay and Mrs. Helen Briggs, all of Wellsville; two grand – nephews, Major Jack McAhon of Ft. Slocum, and Allen McAhon of Wellsville; and two grand nieces, Mrs. Katherine Reinking of Wellsville, and Mrs. Phyllis Young of Scio.
Friends may call from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Schaffner Funeral Home, where funeral services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. The Rev. Revere perkins of the Frist Methodist Chruch will officiate. Burial will be in Maple lawn Cemetery."
