He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn (nee Stemler) Bock. They have been married 56 years. After retirement, he and his wife Evelyn moved to Wall Township on July 15, 1985.
He was also awarded Five Battle stars in the European, African, and the Middle Eastern campaign. The five battles were Normandy, Northern France, Central Europe, Rhineland and Ardennes ("Battle of the Bulge"). In addition, Mr. Bock received the Presidential Unit Citation and the proud recipient of the Silver Star. In June 2001, Governor Christine Todd Whitman presented Mr. Bock with New Jersey's highest military award, the "Distinguished Service Medal".
He was past President and Chairman of the Board for the New Jersey Chapter of American Association of Healthcare Administrative Management. In the year 2000, Mr. Bock was employed as a census taker for the United States Census Bureau.
As an actor, Bill appeared in over 25 plays with various community theatre groups; primarily the Pine Tree Players of Spring Lake. His last part was in 2005 with the Brick Community Theater Goup. He played Henry, the old Shakespearean actor in the "The Fantastics". Mr. Bock was also a stand-up comedian for two years appearing in many clubs and organizations throughout Monmouth and Ocean counties.
In June 2003, Mr. Bock was named as mediator in the Municipal Court of Wall, N.J., serving voluntarily for Municipal Court Judge Evan W. Broadbelt. Mr. Bock will be interred in the General Doyle Cemetery along side his dear wife Evelyn.
Devoted father to Linda Bock-Hinger and her husband Frank, Barbara Bock-Piserchia and her husband Tony, Maureen Bock-Prendergast and her husband Mike, John Bock and his wife Susanne and Michael Bock and his wife Robin. Cherished grandfather to Bill, Jennifer, Katelyn, Ryan, Jared, Andrew, Jaime, Carly and Bailey. Dear brother to Marie Bock and also the late John H. Bock.
