Earl Ray Hendrix age 85 of Liberty passed away Tuesday March 25, 2014 at Reid Hospital in Richmond.

He was born December 9, 1928 in College Corner, OH the son of the late Walter and Gertrude Duckett Hendrix.

Earl served in the U.S. Navy during the conclusion of WW II in 1945 and 1946. He served on the USS Freemont.

He has been a longtime member of the American Legion and the VFW in Liberty.

In his early years Earl worked at Wayne Dairy, later going to work with Moto-Mower Company in Richmond for several years. He later worked at Johnson Sheet Metal which later became Prem-Door Company in Richmond.

In his younger years he enjoyed gardening, hunting mushrooms and being outdoors. He later enjoyed watching television, especially old westerns and the Atlanta Braves. Throughout his life his family was always his most important interest.

Earl was married on July 3, 1948 in Liberty to Norma L. Adkins Hendrix. She passed away on March 19, 2007.

He is survived by 3 daughters, Carma Kersten and husband Ron of St. Augustine, FL; Cindy VanLieu and husband John of Oxford, OH; and Barbara Bowling and husband Michael of Liberty; two sons, Dennis Hendrix and wife Linda of Liberty; and Darrell Hendrix and wife Debbie of Williamsburg, IN; one brother Larry Hendrix of Liberty; and one sister Shirley Brown of Cincinnati; as well as 8 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

In addition to his wife and parents he is preceded in death by 4 brothers, William, Harold, Robert and Russell Hendrix and two sisters Helen Fields and Geneva Baynes as well as two grandchildren Heidi Vickers and Clayton Hendrix.

Burial with military honors will be in West Point Cemetery.
