NELSON - William Nelson, 70, R. R. 2 Kelly Road, died at 12:15 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, 1968 in Rockford Memorial Hospital after a short illness. Born Feb. 3, 1898 in Winnebago, son of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Nelson. Lived all of his life in the Rockford area. Married to the former Esther M. Burdick in Rockford Dec. 24, 1919. She died in 1960. He farmed near Winnebago for 40 years. Member of Winnebago County Farm Bureau.
Survivors include: two sons, William Nelson Jr., Winnebago, and Jack Nelson, Seward; five daughters, Mrs. Wilma Robbins, Mrs. Lois Kite, and Mrs. Barbara Hinson, all of Rockford, Mrs. Darlene Hazzard and Mrs. Shirley Gastel, both of Pecatonica; 27 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Ethel Griffin, Ranier, Minn., and Mrs. Hazel Johnson, Rockford; three brothers, Nels Nelson, Belvidere, George, Seward, and Lewis, Rockford; and several nieces and nephews.
Services at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Burpee-Wood Funeral Home, 420 N. Main St., with Rev. William E. Butler, pastor of Presbyterian Church of Winnebago, officiating. Burial in Winnebago Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday.
