COUNTY AGENT HONOR TO GO TO NEAL DRY
Neil Dry, 38, Caddo Parish Agricultural Agent, is one of two Louisiana agents who will receive the Distinguished Service Award of the National County Agricultural Agents' Association in 1952. The award will be made at a banquet meeting at the Edgewater Beach Hotel in Chicago on December 2, 1952, during the annual convention of the national group.

Neal Dry, 41, Caddo Agricultural Agent, yesterday was named President of the Louisiana County Agents Association, for a two year term. Dry, who in 1952, received the Distinguished Service Award of the National County Agricultural Agents' Association, in a Chicago meeting, has been County Agent of Caddo Parish since 1945. He came to Caddo Parish in 1942, serving as assistant county agent in charge of 4-H Club work under the late C. C. McCrory.

A native of Mt. Pleasant, Texas, Dry is a graduate of Oak Grove High School in West Carroll Parish and of Louisiana State University. He attended Louisiana State Normal at Natchitoches for three years and then went to LSU where he received his B. S. degree in Agriculture in 1938. Prior to his appointment in Caddo Parish, Dry taught vocational agriculture in Jonesboro and Ruston.

Since he has been with the LSU Extension Service as County Agent in Caddo Parish, he has received wide recognition for promoting great feed production and pasture improvement, dairy herd improvement. He has also worked in cotton production methods and insect control.

He and his wife reside at 1049 Sheridan, Shreveport, and are the parents of two children.

BATON ROUGE, LA - Neal Raymond Dry, a resident of Baton Rouge, died at 4:30 am on Wednesday, October 24, 2001 at Our Lady of the Lake Hospital. He was 87 years old. He was born May 15, 1914 in Mount Pleasant, Texas. He moved to what is now the Stanley community, in DeSoto Parish, as the age of 11. After serving as the County Agent at Shreveport, in Caddo Parish, for 15 years, he was transferred to the Baton Rouge LSU Office of the Louisiana Agricultural Extension Service to serve as the Assistant to the Director, a position from which he retired. After retirement from LSU, he worked for a number of years with the Louisiana Public Works Department in the area of rural development.

Mr. Dry received his B. S. and M. S. degrees from Louisiana State University, in Vocational Agriculture. He was a member of Phi Kappa Phi, Alpha Zeta, Gamma Sigma Phi, Alpha Zeta, Gamma Sigma Delta and Epsilon Sigma Phi. He is a former member of the Kiwanis. He has been an active member of the University Baptist Church.

Mr. Dry is survived by his wife of 69 years:
