Richard Adolf Ruthsatz, 85, of Fort Wayne, died unexpectedly on Monday, March 24, 2014 at Visiting Nurse. He was born in Dunkirk, New York, only child of the late Adolf C. Ruthsatz and Margaretta (Mowery) Ruthsatz. He retired from Morton Shoes as a Regional Sales Manager and in retirement he worked for Lewis Bakery. He was a member of the Fort Wayne Bonsai Club, volunteered at the Botanical Gardens, Lawton Greenhouse and Embassy.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Georgia L. (Boyd) Ruthsatz; sons, Richard (Trisha) of Torrance, California, Mike (Debbie) of Anderson, South Carolina and David (Debbi) of Columbia, South Carolina; daughters, Pam (David) Sorg and Trudell Ort both of Fort Wayne; thirteen grandchildren; and several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty (Purdy) Ruthsatz, in 1958; and a daughter, Konnie Helmuth; great grandson, Avett.

Funeral service is 1:00 p.m., Friday, March 28, 2014 at Covington Funeral Home, 8408 Covington Road, with calling two hours prior. Officiating will be Rev. Richard Foust. He will be entombed at Covington Memorial Gardens. Preferred memorials are to Botanical Gardens or Visiting Nurse.
