Salem Baldridge, father of County Superintendent Chloe C. Baldridge and E. O. Baldridge, proprietor of the Ozark Grocery, died at his home in the west part of town Wednesday morning, from injuries received last week in a runaway....
Mr. Salem Dewitt Baldridge, youngest son of John P. and Jane Baldridge was born at Irvington, Jefferson county, Illinois March 31, 1863, and answered the final summons Tuesday night, Dec. 7, 1915, aged 52 years, 8 months and 6 days.
Of his father's family of 12 children, but 3 remain on the shores of time, James Baldridge of Centralia, Illinois, John Albert Baldridge of Elwood, Nebraska, and one sister, Mrs. John Turner, of Centralia, Illinois.
Mr. Baldridge was united in marriage to Miss Rachel Ann Summerville of Sparta, Randolph county, Ill. March 11, 1886 and came to Nance county three years later in 1889.
To this union were born four children, one passing away in infancy, three survive. Earl O., Chloe C. J. and Orville J. S., with the widowed mother, mourn the loss of husband and father.
At the age of 23 our brother united with the church and 20 years ago with his wife they united by letter with the Presbyterian church of this place on Jan. 1, 1896....He passed away just one half hour past midnight, on the birthday of his mother and oldest son....
