Final Summons for Pioneer Woman
Mrs. Catharine Thompson, wife of the late John Theompson, passed away Saturday evening at 8 o'clock at her home, 309 West Walnut street, after a brief illness.
Mrs. Thompson was one of the oldest pioneers of this district, and was well known for her generosity of spirit and good Christian work during the many years she resided here.
She was a native of Iowa, and was aged 80 years and 13 days. She had resided in California sine 1874, and for a great many years had made her home in Lodi.
The deceased was the mother of Wilson H., Emory A. and Elmer Thompson, Mrs. Lettie Franklyn and Mrs. Bell Lossing, and sister of Jacob Shank of Jenny Lind, John Shank of Las Vegas, N.M. and William Shank of Lodi.
The funeral was held yesterday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the late home under the direction of Hale & Bawden. The Woman's Relief Corps, of which she was an active member, turned out in a body and took charge of the services at the grave. Rev. Schwimley officiated. There were many beautiful floral offerings, and a large number of friends who knew the dear old lady for what she was, followed the remains to Lodi cemetery, where interment was made.
