David L. Sanks, 71, of Cheyenne, Wyo., died March 16, 2014 at Davis Hospice Center.

A Memory Service was held at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 20, in the Schrader Chapel. Services and cremation are under the care of Schrader Funeral Home, 2323 Carey Avenue, Cheyenne, Wyo., 82001.

He was born May 6, 1942 in Lexington, to Fredrick and Lucille Sanks. He married Rosalie Suntrup on Jan. 19, 2001 in Cheyenne. He was retired from Union Pacific Railroad as a heavy equipment operator. He was a member of North Cheyenne Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Rosalie Sanks of Cheyenne; step-children, Donald R. Suntrup of Grand Junction, Colo., Donna R. Channel of Cheyenne, David R. Suntrup of Cape Girardeau, Mo., Dale Robert Suntrup of Cheyenne and John D. Suntrup of Cheyenne; sisters, June Herron on Lima, Ohio and Betty Juel of Lexington; 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, and the person he raised as a son, Davey Merriman of Denver.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Lois Sanks, parents and three siblings.
