Clicky graduated from Ocracoke School where he met the love of his life, Susan Spencer Austin. He was employed for 33 years with C.H. Electric, 13 years as manager. After retiring, he purchased a boat and finally got to go fishing and crabbing.
Clicky is survived by his wife of 66 years, Susan Austin; son, Clifton E. Austin, Jr. (Beth); daughter, Dawn Austin Fenyak (Danny); and his grandchildren, Heather, Ashley, Austin III, Danielle, Morgan, Shelby, and Brianna. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Asa Hamilton Gray, IV. Also surviving Clicky are four great-grandchildren, Hunter, Kyla, Alaya, and Clifton E. Austin, IV; sister, Ursula Ramey; brother, Mike Austin (Beth); and many nieces and nephews.
A special thank you to Hal, Robbie, Hali, Tommy, Merrell, Tom and Analee, Bruce and Angel, and especially to Debra, who was our guiding angel through his journey. Thank you also to Dr. Hodges, Dare County Home Health and Hospice, as well as all the helpful friends and neighbors.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hatteras Library, PO Box 309, Hatteras, NC 27943 or to Hatteras Island Cancer Foundation, PO Box 442, Hatteras, NC 27943. A private burial will be held at the family cemetery and a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
