Obituary: Veteran City Architect Brown Dies
Long-time Charleston arch-
tech George D. Brown died Sat-
urday at Charleston General
Hospital after a long illness.
Mr. Brown, 70, of 827 Spring
St. started his career with
Greyhound Corp. where he
served 28 years. He was also
with General Glass Co. four
years and Irving Bowman & As-
sociates two years. He was em-
ployed by the Department of
Natural Resources at the time
of his death.
He was a member of the
Christian Church, Masonic
Lodge and the Shrine. He had
lived in Charleston since 1920.
Survivors: widow, Velma;
daughter, Mrs. James M. Elliot
of Charleston; sons, Gordon D.
of South Charleston and William
R. of Barboursville; sister,
Mrs. Mayme Kinsell of Parkers-
burg.
Servive will be at 2:30 p.m.
Monday at Simpson-Chandler
Funeral Home. Burial will be in
Sunset Memorial Park. Callers
will be received after 5 p. m.
Sunday.
