Wife of Captain John E. Hammon, who is buried with her in the same cemetery. Together they had eight children: Emma, Harry, Earl, Agnes, Hope, Mary, Lillian and Victoria. He met her in Sturgis, South Dakota while stationed at nearby Fort Meade, serving as a Corporal in the 7th US Cavalry. He was a veteran and survivor of the 1876 Battle of the Little Big Horn, in which his commanding officer, General George A. Custer, was killed, along with 60 percent of the 7th Cavalry. Emma and Harry, their first two children, died as infants and are buried in the Fort Meade National Cemetery, Sturgis, South Dakota.
