Gerald Wayne "Jerry" Hopfauf, 54, passed away Sunday evening, Dec. 11, 2005.

He was born in Elgin, N.D., on Jan. 12, 1951, to Ralph and Katherine Hopfauf. He attended school in North Dakota.

Jerry served his country as a career military man in the Army for 26 years. After his discharge he moved to Butte and was employed at the Butte Wal-Mart store.

He married Phyllis Desjardin in Butte on June 29, 2003.

He is survived by his loving wife of two and one-half years, Phyllis Hopfauf, Butte; mother, Katherine Hopfauf, Mandan, N.D.; sons and daughters-in-law, Jacob and Melissa Hopfauf, Everett, Wash., Jason and Cory Hopfauf, Everett, Jared and Abbey Hopfauf, Helotes, Texas; stepchildren, Connie Zerbst, Butte, Richard Zerbst, Missoula, John Zerbst, Missoula, Pat Zerbst, Kalispell, Christopher Zerbst, Boulder; grandchildren, William, Cole, Christopher, Thomas, Riley, Justine, Donte, Brandon and Kaleb; brothers and sister-in-law, Greg Bullerger, Gillette, Wyo.; Tony Hopfauf, Waukegan, Ill., Bob and Paulette Bullerger, Mandan; sisters and brothers-in-law, Paulette and Landy Manuley, Bothell, Wash., Cindy and Lane Rose, Everett.

He was preceded in death by his father.

His remains are in Wayrynen-Richards Funeral Home where funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday with the Rev. Gerri Steward officiating. Interment with military honors will be in Mountain View Cemetery.

Gerald Wayne "Jerry" Hopfauf, 54, former Everett resident, was born in Elgin, North Dakota.
Jerry grew up in Edmonds, Washington, and graduated from Meadowdale High School. He entered the military in June, 1969, and then joined the Army Reserve, serving 26 total years. He spent most of his life in the Edmonds/Everett, Washington area. In 2002 he moved to Butte, Montana.
Gerald was buried in Mountain View Cemetery, Butte. A local memorial service will be held at 7 p.m., Thursday, December 29, 2005, at Madison Community Church, 7404 Olympic Drive, Everett.
