Jonathan Scott Palmer Beasley, 51, passed away February 3, 2014. He was born in Danville, VA the son of David Allen and Diana Palmer Beasley. He was a United States Army veteran having served during Operation Desert Storm. After the Army, Jonathan went on to become an ordained minister and served as a pastor at Columbia Baptist Church in Columbia, NC, Powell's Point Baptist Church in Powell's Point, NC, and Bethlehem Christian Church in Suffolk, VA. Jonathan had a desire to become a police officer and was serving as a police officer with the Chesapeake Police Department. He was a member of Wilroy Baptist Church and the Fraternal Order of Police.

Including his parents, he is survived by his wife of 14 years, Sonya Lynne Beasley; children and their spouses, Kristin Marie and Michael Whitley, Kristen Dawn and Joe Mendes, and Jonathan Scott Palmer; grandson, Colson Scott Whitley; sister, Susan C. Palmer; brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert D. and Suzy Palmer, Allen T. and Gail Beasley; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews. He was predeceased by his daughter, Elicia Palmer and step father, Carroll Palmer.

A funeral service will be held Monday, February 10, 2014 at 11 a.m. at Open Door Church with Rev. Robert Carpenter officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veteran Cemetery. Friends may join the family for a time of visitation Sunday from 2-4 p.m. at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory.
